Driver Arrested After Crash on Telephone Road in Ventura

VENTURA, CA (February 26, 2026) — California Highway Patrol officers arrested a 36-year-old driver on suspicion of DUI after he seriously injured a 27-year-old pedestrian in a crash on Telephone Road on Friday night.

The crash occurred just before 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Telephone Road and Main Street. 

According to CHP, the driver traveled through the intersection and struck the pedestrian as the 27-year-old crossed the street.

Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrian, a Ventura resident, to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

Authorities reported that the suspected drunk driver and his 29-year-old passenger did not suffer injuries in the collision.

Officers arrested the 36-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

The investigation remains ongoing, and CHP is asking anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Ventura CHP office.
