Driver Dies, Passenger Injured in 18-Wheeler Crash on SH 36 in Eastland County
Eastland County, TX (August 16, 2025) – A collision involving an 18-wheeler on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of 74-year-old Earl Morgan Wright of Rising Star and left a passenger injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash occurred on State Highway 36 near milepost 351 and County Road 377.
Investigators said a vehicle traveling east on SH 36 had stopped to allow traffic to turn left when an 18-wheeler failed to slow down and rear-ended the stopped car.
Wright, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. His passenger sustained injuries, though details on their condition have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
