Midland Man Edgar Barraza Dead in Highway 158 Fiery Crash

Driver Hospitalized in Glasscock County Fatal Crash

Glasscock County, TX (February 19, 2026) – Edgar Barraza, 28, of Midland, was killed in a Highway 158 fiery crash Monday evening.

The vehicle collision happened around 6 p.m. near mile marker 314.

According to the authorities, a Kenworth tractor-trailer traveling northwest was about to turn left onto a lease road when another vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, that was also heading northwest, failed to slow and rear-ended the trailer.

The Silverado burst into flames. Its driver, Edgar Barraza, was killed at the scene. Officers said he was wearing a seat belt.

Moreover, the 56-year-old Laredo man who was driving the tractor-trailer, was seriously injured and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. He was also wearing a seat belt during the collision.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fiery crash.
