Edgar Guzman and Others Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 395 Wrong-Way Crash [Susanville, CA]

Susanville, CA (May 17, 2022) – On Sunday, before 11:10 a.m., Edgar Guzman, 31, of Reno, NV, sustained injuries in a vehicle crash on Highway 395 killing a 65-year-old Spokane man.

Officers say a southbound 1996 Toyota Camry driver went onto the freeway. Apparently, the authorities were en route but were unable to intercept the driver prior to the crash.

The driver, a Spokane man, drove into the northbound lane of the freeway, and went into oncoming traffic.

At the same time, Guzman was northbound on the highway at Wran Road. He saw the approaching vehicle and swerved to the right. However, he was unable to avoid being hit by the wrong-way driver. 

As a result,  Guzman’s vehicle overturned.

The officials say the wrong-way driver was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries. 

Guzman and his passengers, 4, 9, and 14, were not wearing their seatbelts when the collision took place. They received moderate injuries.

The officers are investigating this collision.
