Wrong-Way Crash on 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles Kills 76-Year-Old Driver, Injures Another
Los Angeles, CA (July 8, 2026) — On Sunday morning, 76-year-old Edmund Davis lost his life, and another person was injured after a wrong-way crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 10:15 a.m. on the southbound lanes just south of Vernon Avenue. Dispatchers had received reports minutes earlier of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes before a head-on crash happened.
Investigators said a silver Honda Civic, driven by the wrong-way motorist, collided head-on with a gray Nissan Murano. The Honda driver, identified as Davis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews transported the other driver to a hospital with injuries, though officials have not released that person’s condition.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and have not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role. The collision prompted the closure of all southbound lanes near Vernon Avenue for several hours.
Sweet Lawyers extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Edmund Davis. We also wish the injured victim a full recovery and hope the investigation provides answers to everyone affected by this tragic crash.
When a Fatal Accident Changes Life Forever
Losing a loved one in a sudden crash is devastating. The grief can feel overwhelming, and for many families, that emotional pain is compounded by unexpected financial pressures—medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income or support your loved one once provided.
In moments like these, it’s important to know that you are not alone. A wrongful death claim can help families find a sense of justice and financial stability after an unimaginable loss. While no legal action can ever replace the person you’ve lost, it can provide accountability and help protect your family’s future.
Wrongful death claims can help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical costs related to final care
- Lost income and future financial support
- Loss of companionship and emotional suffering
Beyond financial relief, pursuing a claim is often about accountability. Whether a crash was caused by distracted driving, speeding, or another form of negligence, holding the responsible party accountable can help bring closure and reduce the risk of similar tragedies happening to others.
