According to authorities, the fatal incident happened at around 7:25 p.m. to the 700 block of East Vernon Avenue, where responding officers found Martinez lying unresponsive in the roadway.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced Martinez dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office confirmed he was experiencing homelessness at the time of his death.

Witnesses reported seeing a motorcyclist speed away after the collision, though they were unable to provide a detailed description. The investigation remains active as police work to identify the hit-and-run rider.
