Elderly Man Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Golden Springs Drive and Brea Canyon Road [Diamond Bar, CA]

Eight-Vehicle Crash on Golden Springs Drive and Brea Canyon Road Kills 83-Year-Old Man

Diamond Bar, CA (September 10, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash on Golden Springs Drive killed an elderly man and left two other people injured on Wednesday afternoon. 

The incident happened on September 8 on Golden Springs Drive and Brea Canyon Road intersection just before 2 p.m. 

According to Sheriff’s Detective David Timberlake, an 83-year-old man was driving a Mercedes-Benz C230 north on Brea Canyon Road. The man was driving at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at the intersection. 

As a result, the Mercedes crashed with a vehicle that was turning left onto Brea Canyon Road. Then, it crashed again with another vehicle that was turning right. Timberlake reported that the Mercedes collided with several other vehicles before crashing head-on with a Honda.

The impact of the collision left the driver of the Mercedes, who was not wearing a seatbelt, ejected from his vehicle. 

Medics transported him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he later died, Timberlake said. 

The coroner’s office has not released the victim’s identification.

Meanwhile, the Honda driver sustained minor injuries. Medics also transported him to the same hospital, however, there has been no update regarding his current condition. 

Furthermore, a woman, who was one of the vehicles involved complained of arm pain but was not hospitalized, Timberlake said.

Authorities closed the intersection for preliminary duties and investigation.
