Woman Airlifted After Pedestrian Crash on Route M in Cole County

Cole County, MO (December 25, 2025) – A tragic crash on Route M on Christmas Eve claimed the life of an 85-year-old man and left an 86-year-old woman seriously injured after both were struck by a vehicle while crossing Route M, west of Stoney Gap Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 8:20 p.m., when a 2002 Honda Accord—driven eastbound by a 16-year-old from Jefferson City—hit the pedestrians in the roadway.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

Emergency responders rushed to aid the victims. The 85-year-old man was transported to Capital Region Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased at 9:35 p.m.

The 86-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia by MU Air.

Authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the fatal incident marks Troop F’s third deadly crash in December and the 53rd fatality of the year within their jurisdiction.
