UPS Delivery Truck Involved in Palestine Deadly Crash

Palestine, TX (February 19, 2026) – Elizabeth Paukstis, 52, of Washington D.C., was killed in a Loop 256 accident Tuesday night.

The deadly vehicle crash happened before 8 p.m. near the intersection of with Sycamore Street.

Investigators determined Paukstis was hit by a UPS delivery truck.

Responding medical team rushed the victim to Palestine Regional ER, where she was later succumbed to her injuries.

According to the authorities, the UPS truck was westbound on Loop 256 when the pedestrian tried to cross the loop near the intersection.

Police said the UPS truck had a green light when it drove through the intersection, and struck the woman who was wearing dark clothing.

The UPS driver stopped and cooperated with the authorities.
