Nissan Driver Dies, Others Hospitalized in Montague County 2-Vehicle Collision

Montague County, TX (August 11, 2026) – Eric Leslie Florance, a 40-year-old driver from Guthrie, Oklahoma, was injured following a deadly two-vehicle crash on FM 677 past Sunday noon.

The authorities responded to the deadly head-on crash on August 9 near mile marker 188.

Investigators said a 2009 Nissan Sentra driven by 57-year-old Jamie Lynn Hunter, was traveling south when it crossed onto the northbound lane.

Florance who was driving a northbound 2026 Ford F-350, attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle but was unable to prevent the collision.

Responders declared Hunter, who was not wearing a seatbelt, deceased at the crash scene.

Florance and Hunter’s two passengers, a 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, both were also from Guthrie, were transported to Nocona General Hospital with minor injuries. Troopers said they were wearing seatbelts during the impact.

The authorities are investigating the deadly crash.
