Driver Injured in Victorville Pursuit Crash
Victorville, CA (August 24, 2025) – 19-year-old Erick Torres was arrested in a stolen vehicle crash on Bear Valley Road Tuesday morning.
It was around 8:32 a.m. on August 22 when the authorities responded to a report of a stolen 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck near the intersection with Amethyst Drive.
Troopers later found the vehicle in the Walmart parking lot and initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver, Erick Torres, failed to yield and fled which resulted in a chase.
Torres drove recklessly, ran a red light at Bear Valley Road and Mall Boulevard, and struck another motorist. He then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Troopers said Torres went in and exited a nearby business. He the attempted to carjack another vehicle in the Chevron parking lot at 14250 Bear Valley Road.
Torres was found hiding in an abandoned carwash and was arrested without further incident. The authorities booked him at the High Desert Detention Center, on multiple charges, including felony evading, hit and run causing injury, carjacking, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of methamphetamine.
Moreover, the woman driving the vehicle that was hit during the pursuit was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the male passenger refused medical transportation.
