Pedestrian Transported to Hospital Following Padre Boulevard Pursuit Crash

South Padre Island, TX (April 10 2026) – Esteban Garcia III of Rio Grande City was arrested following a Padre Boulevard collision late Wednesday night.

It was past 10:30 p.m. when traffic collision happened at the 3600 block area.

According to the accident report, the authorities tried to pull over a blue Nissan Sentra that was speeding.

However, the driver, Garcia III, refused to stop and the authorities then started a chase.

Troopers said that a male pedestrian was struck during the pursuit. Rescuers rushed the victim to an area hospital for treatment.

The authorities then later arrested Garcia III with charges on evading arrest with a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving.

Investigators said Garcia III also had an outstanding probation warrant out of Starr County.
