Ezra Villafranco Dies in Horrific Crash on FM 509

San Benito Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at FM 509 Intersection in Harlingen

Harlingen, TX (May 17, 2025) — 23-year-old Ezra Villafranco of San Benito died after a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Harlingen, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Troopers responded to the two-vehicle collision around 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of San Jose Ranch Road and FM 509.

Investigators said Ezra Andrew Duke Villafranco was riding a Kawasaki ER-6 motorcycle on FM 509 and attempting to pass other vehicles as he approached the intersection. At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma pulling a trailer was turning left from San Jose Ranch Road onto FM 509 when the vehicles collided.

Emergency crews transported Villafranco to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, where he later died from his injuries.

DPS continues to investigate the fatal crash.
