Police Investigate Deadly Crash on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (December 14, 2025) — A fatal crash on Highway 17 on Sunday near Vine Hill Road prompted a temporary closure of the northbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The deadly collision occurred approximately 5.5 miles south of the Santa Clara County line, in a heavily trafficked corridor between the South Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains.
CHP responded to the scene and immediately shut down all northbound lanes to allow emergency responders to assist and investigators to begin examining the crash site.
