Fatal Crash on Highway 86, Big Rigs Collide [El Centro, CA]

El Centro, CA (June 11, 2025) — On Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old truck driver died in an early morning crash on Highway 86 south of Highway 78, involving two semi-trucks.

Authorities said both vehicles were traveling southbound at approximately 4 a.m. when a Peterbilt truck pulling two flatbed trailers struck the rear of a Kenworth truck towing a shipping container on a chassis.

The impact caused fatal injuries to the Peterbilt driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 55-year-old driver of the Kenworth was not injured in the crash.

Investigators have not yet determined what led to the collision. The incident remains under investigation.
