DENVER, CO (December 29, 2025) – Sunday morning, authorities arrested Diaz Olivas after a fatal DUI crash on Weld County Road 2.5 and Highway 85.

The incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Weld County Road 2.5 and Highway 85.

According to reports, a Ford SUV ran a red light and collided with a northbound GMC SUV. Then, the force of the crash ejected two occupants of the truck into the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced one of the ejected persons dead at the scene. Then, paramedics rushed the other ejected patient to a hospital with serious injuries.

Furthermore, officers arrested a person who fled the scene after the crash, identified as 20-year-old Erik Diaz Olivas, for vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, and several other charges.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
