Child Dead After Crash on Interstate 20 in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX (March 25, 2026) — A 6-year-old girl died early Wednesday morning in a crash on Interstate 20 involving a passenger vehicle and a dump truck.

Police said the collision happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Interstate 20 near the U.S. Highway 287 interchange. 

Investigators reported that the driver of a 2014 Nissan Sentra became distracted by something happening in the back seat and briefly looked away from the road. 

The car then struck the rear of a dump truck.

Authorities said the 6-year-old girl, who was riding in the back seat, suffered fatal injuries. Police believe she may have unbuckled her seatbelt before the crash.

The driver of the Nissan and another child in the vehicle were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Officials have not yet released the name of the child who died.
