11 People Hospitalized in Iron County Auto Accident on Highway 221 near Pilot Knob

IRON COUNTY, MO (October 16, 2025) – Tuesday afternoon, a fatal head-on crash on Highway 221 near Pilot Knob killed one person.

The incident happened at around 4:00 p.m. on Highway 221, about 1.5 miles north of Pilot Knob.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the car veered across the center line and collided head-on with a northbound van.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 51-year-old male driver of the car dead at the scene. Then, paramedics confirmed that the 31-year-old female driver of the van sustained minor injuries along with the 10 teenage passenger of the vehicle, who were ages 14-18 years old.

Furthermore, paramedics transported two teenage passengers of the vehicle to a hospital with serious injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the MSHP continued investigating the crash.
