Police Search Driver After Hit-And-Run Crash on Route 66 in Seligman

Seligman, AZ (February 4, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on Route 66 that claimed the life of a man late Saturday night.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before midnight to reports of a person lying in the westbound lanes of Route 66, just west of Seligman. 

The area is located roughly halfway between Williams and Kingman.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man deceased in the roadway. Officials have not released the victim’s identity.

Detectives believe the man was struck by a vehicle while he was lying in the roadway. 

The driver involved allegedly fled the scene without stopping to provide aid or contact authorities. Investigators continue to work to determine the exact cause of death.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who traveled through the area near mile marker 136 between 9 p.m. Saturday and midnight to contact investigators. 

Authorities are also urging the public to report any suspicious activity, sightings of a pedestrian in the area, vehicles with unexplained damage, or relevant surveillance or dash camera footage.

The investigation remains ongoing.
