CLAY COUNTY, TX (June 8, 2025) – Friday afternoon, a fatal pedestrian crash on US 287 near Butler Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on US 287 near Butler Road.

According to Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, a vehicle struck a driver who exited his vehicle after experiencing mechanical issues.

Moreover, responders confirmed that the pedestrian died in the incident.

Furthermore, the second vehicle’s driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified. 

Due to limited information, the Texas Department of Transportation continued investigating the crash.
