Female Moped Rider Dies in Tragic Crash on Highway 77 [Scott County, MO]

Scott County, MO (July 1, 2025) – A 56-year-old Benton woman riding a moped was fatally struck in a tragic crash on Highway 77 Monday evening.

According to authorities, the fatal crash occurred on Monday night at around 9 p.m.

Authorities say that a pickup truck traveling south on MO 77 crossed the centerline and struck a northbound moped near the intersection with Highway H, southeast of Benton.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after 9 p.m. Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the moped rider, a 56-year-old woman from Benton, died at the scene.

Officials identified the truck driver as a 48-year-old man, also from Benton. It remains unclear whether he sustained any injuries.
