1 Dead in Howard County Multi-Vehicle Accident on FM 33 near Mile Marker 13

HOWARD COUNTY, TX (November 11, 2023) – Thursday night, Fernando Alvarez died in a horrific multi-vehicle crash on FM 33 near Mile Marker 13.

The incident happened on FM 33 near Mile Marker 13 in rainy, wet conditions.

Reports said that during the preliminary crash, 51-year-old Alvarez drove a Freightliner truck as he traveled west on FM 33 near mile marker 313.

Meanwhile, 49-year-old Ra Nebmare Nebertcher-Bey, also driving a Freightliner truck, was driving eastbound on FM 33.

Then, Alvarez failed to drive in a single lane then side-swiped Nebertcher-Bey.

Afterward, Alvarez drove westbound in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with 54-year-old Travis Larson’s car.

Officers revealed that Larson was with five passengers, one being a 13-year-old and another being a 14-year-old.

Afterward, Alvarez jack-knifed in the middle of the roadway and 21-year-old Bailey Garcia, driving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu, crashed into the rear of Alvarez’s truck.

The impact ejected Alvarez from his seat and was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders took Larson and his five passengers to Scenic Mountain Medical Center and are in stable condition.

Responders also transported Garcia and the passenger in her vehicle to SMMC and are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Nebertcher-Bey received treatment at the scene and was released.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
