Windsor, CA (October 02, 2025) – A 94-year-old grandfather, Fernando Velazquez, died after a vehicle struck him while he was riding his tricycle on Old Redwood Highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 1 p.m. near Shiloh Road.

Investigators said Velazquez was stopped on the northbound shoulder when a Range Rover veered off the road and hit him. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Family members shared that Velazquez enjoyed riding his tricycle daily to stay active and spread joy in his community. He was also a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

The crash remains under investigation.
