Several People Hurt in Fiery 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99E

Injuries Reported in Los Molinos Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 99E near Ninth Avenue

LOS MOLINOS, CA (July 15, 2026) – Saturday morning, a fiery 3-vehicle crash on Highway 99E near Ninth Avenue hurt several people.

The incident involving three vehicles happened just after 9:13 a.m. on Highway 99E and Ninth Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol traffic logs, the crash involved a Peterbilt semi-truck towing a trailer and a Chevrolet pickup on Highway 99E. Initial reports indicated the trailer caught fire after the collision, with witnesses reporting a large explosion. The trailer later became fully engulfed in flames, blocking the highway.

Firefighters with the CAL FIRE and Tehama County Fire Department responded and contained the fire to the vehicles involved. Crews remained at the scene for about an hour after the flames were extinguished.

Authorities reported that three vehicles were involved in the collision and that two of them were completely destroyed by fire. Despite the severity of the crash, all occupants were wearing seat belts and escaped before the fire spread. Occupants of the pickup reported suffering burns to their hands, cuts, scrapes, and a possible concussion.

The occupants also reported that their dog, Mira, a Miniature Pinscher-Chihuahua mix, went missing after the crash. Mira was last seen wearing a checkered-flag harness.
At 9:40 a.m., both lanes of Highway 99E were closed while emergency crews worked at the scene. One-way traffic control was established by 10:20 a.m. Tow trucks later removed the damaged vehicles, including the semi-truck and trailer, which was carrying an estimated 60,000-pound load.

The California Department of Transportation announced that both lanes reopened at 3:50 p.m. Cleanup operations continued for about 30 minutes afterward, and motorists were advised to use caution in the area.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
