Police Investigate Car Racing Crash on Interstate 10 in Redlands

Redlands, CA (July 15, 2026) – A late-night crash on Interstate 10 involving a Corvette that caught fire prompted a California Highway Patrol investigation into possible street racing in Redlands.

The collision occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 13, 2026, on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway just east of California Street.

California Highway Patrol officers, Redlands Fire Department crews, and AMR paramedics responded after receiving reports that one vehicle had left the freeway while another was engulfed in flames in the middle lanes.

When emergency crews arrived, they found a Corvette fully engulfed in fire. The driver was sitting safely on the right shoulder.

The driver initially told first responders that a passenger had been inside the vehicle. Firefighters and CHP officers searched the nearby embankment using flashlights and thermal imaging equipment before determining that no passenger was involved and that the driver had been the vehicle’s sole occupant.

Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene, but the individual declined further medical treatment.

CHP later detained the driver for questioning as investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the crash.

According to witnesses, as many as six vehicles appeared to be racing immediately before the collision. Authorities did not locate any of the other suspected vehicles at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
