HOUSTON, TX (July 2, 2026) – Wednesday morning, a horrific fiery crash on Interstate 10 Katy Freeway near State Highway 6 killed two people.

The incident happened at about 5:00 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 Katy Freeway near State Highway 6.

Two people were killed after an 18-wheeler overturned onto a vehicle along the Katy Freeway, authorities said.

According to the Houston Fire Department, the tractor-trailer overturned onto a passenger vehicle, causing the car to catch fire.

Fire officials confirmed the driver of the 18-wheeler and the driver of the car were both killed.

Authorities have not released the circumstances leading up to the crash or the identities of the victims.

The collision shut down multiple eastbound lanes of the Katy Freeway for several hours as crews worked at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
