1 Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident near Highway 178

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 13, 2025) – Sunday night, a person died in a fiery off-road vehicle crash near Highway 178.

The incident happened at around 8:00 p.m. south of 11000 block of Highway 178.

Officers arrived to find firefighters putting out a vehicle fire that had spread to nearby grass. One adult was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were ejected from the vehicle and sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were taken to Kern Medical for treatment.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
