Police Investigate Crash on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (December 5, 2025) — A firefighter from the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while responding to a crash on Interstate 25 Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. near the Circle Drive exit, just south of the Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass.
Emergency crews, including CSFD and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), were attending to a multi-vehicle crash when a southbound driver reportedly failed to slow down safely near the scene.
According to CSPD, the driver collided with a civilian vehicle and a Community Service Officer’s (CSO) vehicle before striking the firefighter, who was actively assisting others.
The injured firefighter was transported to a hospital in stable condition with multiple injuries.
Authorities closed the two left lanes of I-25 for approximately two hours to investigate.
Charges may be filed, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
CSFD urges drivers to exercise extreme caution whenever emergency crews are on the road, reminding the public to slow down, change lanes when possible, and remain alert, especially during hazardous winter conditions.
