Forney, TX (March 19, 2026) – A rideshare driver struck two Forney police vehicles late Wednesday while officers were diverting traffic from a separate multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80, critically injuring a passenger, authorities said.
According to the Forney Police Department, the first crash happened just before 11 p.m.
Officers then positioned their patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated to shut down the highway and divert traffic to the service road.
Police said that at about 12:55 a.m. On Thursday, a rideshare driver transporting a passenger collided with two parked Forney police units.
The crash caused major damage to all three vehicles.
The rideshare passenger suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, according to authorities.
The rideshare driver was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas.
Police said the two officers were outside their vehicles when the collision happened and were not injured.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
In a news release, Forney police reminded drivers that when an emergency vehicle has its lights activated, they must slow down, move over, and follow the path provided by emergency crews.
