Bates County, MO (February 8, 2026) – Four people were injured early Sunday morning in a crash on SE 2275 after a vehicle lost control, according to local authorities.
Emergency calls came in around 5 a.m. reporting a vehicle off the roadway on SE 2275.
Responders from Rich Hill Fire, Bates County Sheriff’s Office, and Bates County EMS arrived to find a 2000 Ford Windstar that had left the roadway, gone off a bridge, and landed on its roof in the Marais Des Cygnes River.
The vehicle was partially submerged in the water.
Due to the severity of the situation, Butler Fire was dispatched to deploy an ice water rescue team.
Missouri State Highway Patrol also responded to assist with the investigation.
Officials said four occupants were inside the minivan at the time of the crash. The 20-year-old male driver from El Dorado Springs suffered minor injuries.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A Corporal R.J. Hastings, the crash occurred as the vehicle was traveling northbound, lost control, and left the roadway before coming to rest in the river.
Rich Hill Fire shared images from the scene showing the overturned minivan being lifted from the water by a large tow truck.
