Francisco Lopez Dead in Tragic Vehicle Crash on Loop 202

1 Person Dead in Phoenix Auto Accident on Loop 202 near 24th Street

PHOENIX, AZ (October 1, 2024) – Sunday morning, Francisco Lopez died in a tragic vehicle crash on Loop 202 near 24th Street.

The incident happened at around 2:40 a.m. on Loop 202 near 24th Street.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Dodge Ram struck a Nissan Sentra that was involved in an earlier crash. Then, the force of the crash ejected an occupant of the Nissan into the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced the ejected occupant of the Nissan, identified as 21-year-old Lopez, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported an occupant of the Dodge, identified as 48-year-old Nereyda Valenzuela, to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, authorities said that Valenzuela would eventually face charges of manslaughter and endangerment when released from the hospital.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the DPS continued to investigate the crash.
