Salinas Man Fell from His Bike and Fatally Struck South of Sala Road

Salinas, CA (September 9, 2026) – 23-year-old Frank Mathura of Salinas was killed in a traffic collision on Sala Road Sunday night.

The authorities received the crash report past 8 p.m., south of Sala Road.

Police determined Mathura was southbound when he lost control and fell into the roadway.

A GMC pickup driven south by a 54-year-old man struck Mathura.

Immediately, rescuers provided life-saving efforts, but the bicyclist died at the scene.

Investigators said the pickup driver was not under the influence during the collision, though, they are investigating if Mathura was.
