Motorcyclist Fred Giles Injured in University Blvd Collision [Odessa, TX]

Odessa, TX (March 16, 2026) – A 65-year-old motorcyclist, Fred Giles, was injured in a University Blvd hit-and-run crash Saturday night.

It was before 9 p.m. when the collision happened on Andrews Highway.

According to the authorities, a black Harley Davidson driven by Giles was northbound on Andrews Highway. 

At the same time, a blue Honda Civic driven by 53-year-old Javier Diaz was southbound on the same road. Diaz attempted to turn east onto University Boulevard and struck the motorcyclist.

Giles sustained serious injuries and was taken to MCH while Diaz fled the scene after the impact.

Investigators said Javier Diaz failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto University Blvd.
