Waynesville Woman Seriously Hurt in Rollover Crash on Route Z in Phelps County

Phelps County, MO (May 13, 2025) — A Waynesville woman suffered serious injuries Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash on Route Z at Teardrop Road in Phelps County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Investigators said the 47-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Kia Sorento northbound when she failed to yield to a westbound 2009 Ford F-150 driven by a 20-year-old man from Rolla. The Kia struck the pickup truck and overturned after the collision.

Emergency crews transported the Waynesville woman to Phelps Health in Rolla with serious injuries. A 21-year-old passenger in the Ford sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt. The investigation remains ongoing.

Traffic accidents can happen in the blink of an eye — but their effects can last a lifetime. Every time you get behind the wheel, remember: staying alert and making safe choices can save lives. Avoid distractions, never drive under the influence, and always wear your seatbelt. Follow speed limits, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and watch out for pedestrians and cyclists who share the road with you.

Take that extra moment to look both ways and yield cautiously at intersections — sometimes, that one second of attention can prevent a serious or even life-threatening crash.

Failing to yield at intersections can lead to severe rollover crashes and serious injuries. Drivers should remain attentive, check for oncoming traffic carefully, and follow right-of-way laws to help prevent dangerous collisions.
