Frightening Bus Crash on 98th Avenue Injures 2 People [Oakland, CA]

Oakland, CA (May 26, 2025) — Two people suffered injuries after a frightening bus crash on 98th Avenue, where an AC Transit bus crashed into a building in Oakland shortly after midnight Sunday.

According to officials, the collision happened near the intersection with MacArthur Boulevard. Investigators reported that a Toyota Camry traveling north on 98th Avenue allegedly ran a red light and collided with the bus as it approached the intersection.

The impact forced the AC Transit bus off the roadway and into the exterior of a nearby building. Officials said an officer reportedly witnessed the Camry driver run the traffic signal.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and rescued the bus driver, who became trapped inside the vehicle for a short time. Authorities confirmed that two people sustained injuries in the crash, though the severity of those injuries has not been released.

The building suffered minor damage, and crews requested temporary boarding repairs.

The crash remains under investigation.
