Austin, TX (May 11, 2025) — Early Saturday morning, a fatal crash on Interstate 35 caused major traffic delays after authorities shut down several lanes near the U.S. 183 ramp.

According to police, the collision happened around 4:06 a.m. in the 7200 block of North I-35 northbound. The crash involved a single vehicle carrying two passengers near the U.S. 183 on-ramp.

Emergency crews transported both occupants to a hospital, where one person later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Officials have not released the victim’s identity.

The incident reduced northbound traffic to one lane and forced the closure of the ramp connecting I-35 to U.S. 183. Authorities said the shutdown remained in effect as of 6:45 a.m., with no estimated reopening time announced.
