Five Injured, Including Four Teens, in Rollover Accident on Interstate 44 in Phelps County
Phelps County, MO (November 3, 2025) —Early Saturday morning, five people, including four teenagers, were injured in a rollover crash on I-44 in Phelps County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 12:45 a.m. when a 16-year-old girl driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler attempted to pass a semi-truck but failed to clear the lane in time, causing the Jeep to hit the front of the truck. The impact sent the vehicle off the road, where it overturned and ejected two passengers.
Emergency crews transported the 16-year-old driver, another 16-year-old passenger, and a 15-year-old passenger to Phelps Health in Rolla with minor to moderate injuries. Another 16-year-old and an 18-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia.
Authorities said the two seriously injured occupants were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The semi-truck driver, a 60-year-old man, was not hurt and cooperated with officers at the scene. The Jeep was totaled and towed from the site.
