Driver Charged With Felony DWI After Serious Injury Crash on I-29
Kansas City, MO (November 19, 2025) — A driver seriously injured while 29-year-old Gabriel Yusuf now faces a felony DWI charge after a violent collision on southbound I-29 early Sunday.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash around 2 a.m. near 64th Street.
Investigators say Yusuf was driving a Toyota Corolla when he struck a Cadillac CTS driven by a 44-year-old man, sending both vehicles into a ditch on the right side of the interstate.
Troopers arrested Yusuf at the scene on suspicion of intoxication. Court documents noted signs of impairment, and investigators later obtained a blood sample for testing. Yusuf was not hurt in the crash.
The 44-year-old Cadillac driver suffered serious injuries, including a broken hip, and was rushed into surgery. His current condition remains unavailable.
Yusuf is now charged with felony DWI resulting in serious injury and is being held in the Platte County jail on a $25,000 bond.
