Anaheim Police Search for Driver in Deadly Hit-and-Run

Anaheim, CA (August 21, 2025) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Knott Avenue that killed 58-year-old Gary Henry Looper.

According to authorities, the collision happened just before midnight on August 9 near Knott and Orange avenues.

Investigators said a red or maroon vehicle struck Looper as he crossed Knott Avenue. Looper, who was described as homeless, was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries on August 12.

The driver fled the scene, and police are urging anyone with information to contact Anaheim detectives at 714-765-1474 or leave an anonymous tip with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
