50-Year-Old George Batiste Thenarse Arrested in Deadly Crash Near Sorrel Way [Victorville, CA]

Victorville, CA (May 29, 2025) – Police arrested 50-year-old George Batiste Thenarse of Barstow after a suspected DUI crash near Sorrel Way.

According to authorities, the frightening crash happened around 8:57 p.m. near Reno Loop Road and Sorrel Way in the Brentwood community.

Reports say that a suspected DUI driver struck and killed a female pedestrian in Victorville on Tuesday night.

Emergency crews from the Victorville Police Station, Fire Department, and American Medical Response arrived quickly at the scene.

Officials found that a 2001 gold Chevrolet Suburban had hit the woman. The SUV showed front-end damage, including dents to the driver’s side fender and bumper.

Paramedics transported the woman to a nearby hospital, but she later died from her injuries. Authorities have not yet released her identity, pending coroner confirmation.

The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team took over the investigation and closed Reno Loop Road for about four hours.
