Gila County, AZ (July 11, 2026) – A golf cart driver died after a crash on State Route 87 on Friday morning in Gila County, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. on State Route 87 near milepost 271 in Strawberry.

Troopers said the golf cart and a flatbed truck collided, resulting in the death of the golf cart driver.

Following the crash, the Arizona Department of Transportation closed State Route 87 in both directions while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene. 

All lanes reopened shortly before 11:00 a.m.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or explained what caused the collision.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the fatal crash.
