Passenger Grace Parsons Dies in Tragic Crash on Cole Grade Road [Valley Center, CA]

Valley Center, CA (March 24, 2026) — 75-year-old Grace Parsons of Encinitas and 33-year-old Guillermo Hernandez of Valley Center lost their lives in a devastating crash Sunday evening on Cole Grade Road.

Authorities say that Hernandez was driving his pickup truck through the rural community around 5 p.m. when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a sedan. Emergency crews responded quickly and attempted lifesaving measures, but Hernandez died at the scene from severe blunt-force injuries.

The crash also claimed the life of Parsons, who was riding as a passenger in the sedan.

Authorities continue to investigate what led to the collision.
