1 Person Hurt in Willits Auto Accident on Highway 101 near MPM44

WILLITS, CA (April 4, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Grant Gosch sustained injuries following a disastrous two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near MPM44.

The incident happened at around 1:38 a.m. on the Willits Bypass section of Highway 101, near MPM44.

According to Officer Olegario Marin of CHP’s Ukiah Office, a loaded truck and trailer struck an Econo-type passenger vehicle that was stationary in the traffic lane without any illuminated lights.

Moreover, responders airlifted the driver of the van, identified as Gosch from Cottonwood, to Chico’s Enloe Hospital with major life-threatening injuries. Also, officers confirmed that the driver of the truck, identified as Geovanny Larreynaga from Carmichael, was not hurt in the incident.

Furthermore, officers closed lanes of Highway 101 to give way to responders. All lanes have long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
