Driver Suspected of Impairment After Fatal Crash at Broadway and Wilmot 

Tucson, AZ (February 25, 2026) – The Tucson Police Department released new details about a fatal pedestrian crash at Broadway Boulevard and Wilmot Road that occurred Tuesday evening, February 24.

Authorities confirmed that 56-year-old Griselda Josephine Houston died from injuries she sustained after a white 2007 Nissan Titan struck her while she attempted to cross the roadway.

Investigators reported that Houston was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision. 

Detectives determined that the Nissan Titan was traveling approximately 40 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone when the crash occurred.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

An officer from the Tucson Police Department’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and determined that the driver of the Titan was impaired at the time of the collision. 

Officials stated that Houston’s attempt to cross outside of a crosswalk was a major contributing factor in the crash.

TPD continues to investigate whether the driver’s impairment played a role in causing the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
