Woman Transported in Spokane Hit-and-Run Collision
Spokane, WA (June 9, 2025) – The authorities arrested 20-year-old Haleigh Weinkauf following a DUI crash on N Argonne Road Saturday night.
It was around 10 p.m. when the traffic crash happened at the intersection with East Knox Avenue.
The accident report noted that the victim was crossing the road on a walk signal when a silver sedan turned and struck her.
Officers said the vehicle driven by Weinkauf then fled after the incident.
Luckily, the pedestrian was not seriously injured, but was still transported to a hospital.
Police later located the suspect’s Hyundai Sonata parked between two big rigs in a parking lot at 2020 North Argonne Road. A woman inside the vehicle matched the victim’s description of the suspect driver.
Haleigh Weinkauf admitted to the authorities that she was under the influence of alcohol and cannabis. Similarly, she admitted to hitting the woman with her vehicle but denied fleeing the scene. According to her, she was trying to find a phone charger to call 911.
Investigators said the hood of Weinkauf’s car has evidence of the hit and run, while Weinkauf had a blood alcohol concentration level of .161.
The authorities took Weinkauf to Spokane County Jail and recommended for felony charges of injury hit and run. Additionally, she is also facing misdemeanor charges of driving under the influences, possession of a cannabis product under the age of 21, and minor in possession of liquor/alcohol.
