Bicyclist Killed in Phoenix Hit-and-Run; Driver Arrested
Phoenix, AZ (February 10, 2026) — On Sunday morning, 26-year-old Hannah Rose Henry died after being struck by a van in Phoenix in a suspected hit-and-run incident.
According to authorities, Henry was riding in a bike lane near Central Avenue and Ellwood Street around 11 a.m. when the van hit her. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the van’s driver as 46-year-old Eric Dustin Hodge.
According to court records, Hodge fled the scene after the crash. Video evidence helped police trace the van to Hodge, who admitted to having smoked fentanyl before driving and said he was en-route to buy more at the time of the incident.
Hodge told officers he sometimes “passes out” after using fentanyl and could not recall hitting Henry. He believed he had only struck a fire hydrant. Police later found fentanyl and paraphernalia on him.
Hodge was arrested and appeared emotional at his first court appearance, expressing regret and stating he was “not a violent person.” He has been charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, and drug offenses.
Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Hannah Rose Henry during this difficult time.
