One Killed, Another Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (July 7, 2026) — One person died, and another was injured after a Harbor Freeway wrong-way crash in South Los Angeles on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 10:15 a.m. on the southbound lanes near West Slauson Avenue. Investigators said a silver Honda Civic was traveling north in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a gray Nissan Murano.
One person died at the scene, while another was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the injured person’s condition or the identities of those involved.
The crash prompted officials to divert traffic off the southbound freeway at Vernon Avenue. A SigAlert remained in effect as all southbound lanes south of Vernon Avenue were closed while crews responded and investigators examined the scene.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision.
Sweet Lawyers extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life. We also wish the injured victim a full and speedy recovery.
When a Fatal Accident Changes Life Forever
Losing a loved one in a sudden crash is devastating. The grief can feel overwhelming, and for many families, that emotional pain is compounded by unexpected financial pressures—medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income or support your loved one once provided.
In moments like these, it’s important to know that you are not alone. A wrongful death claim can help families find a sense of justice and financial stability after an unimaginable loss. While no legal action can ever replace the person you’ve lost, it can provide accountability and help protect your family’s future.
Wrongful death claims can help families recover compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Medical costs related to final care
- Lost income and future financial support
- Loss of companionship and emotional suffering
Beyond financial relief, pursuing a claim is often about accountability. Whether a crash was caused by distracted driving, speeding, or another form of negligence, holding the responsible party accountable can help bring closure and reduce the risk of similar tragedies happening to others.
At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how overwhelming this time can be. Our experienced wrongful death and personal injury attorneys have spent decades supporting families through some of life’s most difficult moments. We approach every case with care, respect, and a deep commitment to justice.
