18-Year-Old Woman Killed, Five Hurt in 2-Car Crash on North Central Expressway in Dallas

Dallas, TX (May 14, 2025) — 18-year-old Hazel Soto Fuerte died and five others suffered injuries following a two-vehicle crash early Sunday on North Central Expressway in Dallas.

Authorities say that the collision happened around 3:55 a.m. near North Henderson Avenue.

According to investigators, an 18-year-old driver was operating a gray GMC Sierra carrying several passengers after leaving a downtown Dallas club. Police said the driver lost control while attempting to avoid another vehicle, causing the truck to cross multiple lanes and strike a concrete barrier and pillar.

The GMC then reentered the roadway and collided with a red truck before both vehicles came to a stop after additional impacts with barriers.

Fuerte died at the scene. A juvenile passenger in the GMC suffered serious injuries, including broken ribs and a bruised lung. Several others, including the driver and a passenger in the second truck, were transported to local hospitals.

Police said officers discovered an open whiskey container inside the GMC and observed signs of impairment from the driver during sobriety testing. Authorities arrested the driver on charges of manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury. He remains in the Dallas County Jail on a $350,000 bond.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
