Aptos Man Killed in Head-On Crash on Bolsa Road; Other Driver Arrested

Santa Clara County, CA (July 29, 2026) — A head-on collision on Bolsa Road in southern Santa Clara County claimed the life of an Aptos man Sunday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened about two hours after another fatal collision in the area. Investigators said a Ford F-150 crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Toyota pickup north of Bloomfield Road.

The driver of the Toyota, identified only as a 56-year-old man from Aptos, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the Ford F-150 attempted to flee on foot after the crash but collapsed nearby. Officers arrested the individual on suspicion of leaving the scene of a collision.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after confirming it and notifying the next of kin.

Investigators continue to examine the cause of the crash and have not ruled out any contributing factors. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the CHP Hollister-Gilroy Area office.
