24-Year-Old Poplar Bluff Woman Dies After Head-On Crash on County Road 442

Butler County, MO (March 11, 2026) — A 24-year-old Poplar Bluff woman lost her life after a head-on collision on CR 442 on Monday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:35 a.m. on County Road 442, about one mile west of Poplar Bluff.

Investigators said a westbound pickup truck crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a small SUV driven by the young woman.

The impact left the SUV driver with severe injuries. Emergency responders transported her to a hospital in Poplar Bluff before transferring her to a medical facility in St. Louis for advanced treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the woman later died from her injuries at about 2:14 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said the pickup driver, a 40-year-old man from Poplar Bluff, did not report injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash. Investigators confirmed that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time.

Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.
